 PMC2000 PURPLE MARTIN CONDO
 Hundreds of these beautiful and successful martin condos have been in use during 15 years of research under the direction of their creator, Del McKinnon, president of the Canadian Purple Martin Conservancy. Research sites have included several sites in the U.S. as well as Canada. (currently no web site available)
WEIGHT
At 63 pounds (without martins) this condo is about half the weight of most equivalent housing and is loaded with features for both martins and landlords. It can be raised and lowered to allow nest checks and the tiers separate for easy and safe access to the martin cavities. Research has shown that the design MAXIMIZES attraction and benefits for the martins and MINIMIZES the risk of predation.

~ Large 7" x 11-1/2" cavities attract and benefit martins.
~ Cavity size allows for wing exercise for chicks within the safety of the cavity.
~ Research shows that most chicks remain in the safety of their cavities till fledge day.
~ Can be mounted on 4X4 wooden pole, #80 square metal tubing, or #80 round pipe
~ Easy access to cavities via separation of tiers.
~ Separate cavity ceilings provide safety and minimize premature fledging.
~ Cottage roof and ledges assure dryness and inhibit predation by winged predators.
~ Round holes are standard in the kits; but design permits each builder to use his/her favorite type entry plates... including "McFlip."
~ Occupancy rates are consistently high because porch design inhibits dominant or aggressive behavior by neighboring pairs.
~ Roof perches have been intentionally eliminated, as perches often became sentinel posts for cavity defense by dominant males.
~ Research shows martins remain on their own porch areas guarding their own cavity and NOT battling their colony mates.
