2006 Once a pair of Bluebirds decide on a location to nest, the male Bluebird will claim the box for his mate. They typically fly to the ground, pick up some blades of grass and then deposit these grass clippings inside of the box to let others know this house is taken. Sometimes a courtship song and a wing flap are also displayed as he does this.
