The only thing keeping this from being a Tree swallow nest is the feathers. Martins do not use grass to build their nests in my area, or at least not that I have ever seen. It is important to know what other species nests look like so you can tell the difference. Also, my Martins are only in the beginnings of making nests and this one is complete. This also tells me it is not a Martin. I ripped this nest out to detour them from nesting. They found someplace else apparently. Letting any other species nest in your housing will most likely keep you from getting Martins.
